Produced by Nordic Edge, this blade vice is an excellent tool and an invaluable aid for any knifemaker, whether you are sanding bevels or shaping a handle.
Made of stainless steel and aluminum, with a retractable blade rest to provide the best possible support for different lengths of blades.
Three bolts enable secure clamping of the knife blade.
Screw holes in the base to attach directly to the workbench.
It can handle knife blades with a width of up to 67 mm.
Hand sand knife blades:
- Either attach to a workbench with a clamp or screws.
- Adjust the blade support.
- Place the blade so that the tip of the blade and end of the support align.
- Clamp the blade into the blade vice.
- Sand one side until final grit before cleaning and covering with masking tape.
- Turn the blade over and repeat on the other side
Shaping and sanding the handle:
- Push the blade support all the way in or turn it around so it sticks out the back
- Clamp blade edge side against the single bolt (right) for the strongest grip (there are 3 bolts, use 2 bolts on the spine side and one on the edge side)
- Use the frame bolt to clamp the stainless steel tube in the position needed for shaping the handle or hand sand the handle
